HEADLINES We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and highly-organised recent science or engineering graduate to join our growing technical team You will be responsible for technical project management, supporting development trials from laboratory- to commercial-scale, and leading interactions with our suppliers This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of an early-stage materials science business that is pioneering a new generation of polymer science relevant to markets worth $100bns We are a highly ambitious and driven team; our mission is to make VOID one of the most exciting science businesses in the world we are authentic and fun, and are looking to do things differently The role will provide the future opportunity for the right candidate to develop into a technical or commercial management role in VOIDs business VOID TECHNOLOGIES - THE NEXT 18 MONTHS Launching products is our primary focus. VOID is in development mode and is currently focused on commercialising fibre and film applications in several markets. We are expanding our technical team with talented scientists and engineers, and are driving a rapid testing and development program to commercially-qualify the technology. The output of this phase of work will set the foundation for a new materials science business with a commercially-proven unique technology proposition relevant to markets and supply chains worth $100bns. THE ROLE The Research Associate will report to the CTO and work with the technical team focused on developing and launching first product applications. You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating development trials, testing programs, and making sure projects meet timeline objectives. This will include working with suppliers, vendors, and customers to ensure that projects are delivered effectively and on time. An entrepreneurial mindset will be essential to success in the role, including excellent problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude (no job too big or too small), and strong organizational skills. Key responsibilities include: Engage and work with key stakeholders to understand and develop their requirements into clear statements of technical work or product briefs Conduct detailed planning to ensure that projects are delivered on agreed timescales and meet specifications; exercising judgement and influencing the specifications and plan where necessary Act as the key interface between the technical team and external partners to coordinate trials, order materials and identify operational efficiencies Lead regular tracking and reporting on progress vs. plan Own the project risk and issue register for all projects and communicate risks to leadership Provide ad hoc hands-on assistance to technical team when needed, e.g. material compounding and sample preparation (with full training), demonstrating the ability to be flexible in a start-up company environment WHAT WE WILL EXPECT IN FIRST 6 MONTHS Rapidly gain a working understanding of VO+ technology, equipment, processes, key development projects, and the requirements for VOIDs projects and VOIDs current work practices Develop project management processes for effectively managing, tracking, and reporting against key projects Establish relationships with development partners and suppliers Take over management of material inventory and ensure there are no material shortages Complete training for laboratory compounding equipment Support sample production and testing as needed to meet project timeline CANDIDATE BACKGROUND Degree qualification or equivalent (engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics preferred) 1-3 years post-university experience in a technical role highly desired Highly organised, loves process and pays attention to the detail Energy and enthusiasm; can positively engage stakeholders to drive timely and successful outcomes Strong interpersonal skills: able to build productive working relationships and influence Analytical: able to assess problems thoroughly and drive to logical conclusions (e.g. can demonstrate common sense and do not feel embarrassed to ask supposedly silly questions) Credible: able to demonstrate a good level of understanding of engineering processes to work with the technical team throughout the project development cycle Creative: able to think creatively to solve complex challenges TERMS Compensation: Competitive 401K: Up to 5% matched, after three consecutive months of employment Healthcare: Yes Vacation: 15 days APPLICATION PROCESS Please apply for this role by emailing , ensuring to provide all of the following information: Resume/CV Cover letter US work authorization status Indicate where you saw this position advertised N.B.
